UNI and the UNI Alumni Association are seeking alumni and friends who want to be involved. Whether you want to help with career advice and direction, share your UNI experience with a prospective student, talk with your local legislators about the role that UNI had in your life or just want to help out with Alumni events, we need you!
The Panther Volunteer Network is your connection to countless opportunities. It costs nothing and you can pick your level of involvement. What counts is that you want to make a difference. And there is no better time to start than right now.
Student Recruitment – Share your thoughts with prospective students and their families who might benefit from the UNI experience. No one can tell the story better than you!
Regional Contact – help new graduates and alumni moving into your area by serving as an area reference for the best places to eat, find medical services, daycare or just delivering a Panther Welcome!
Help plan or host an event in your area – be it a family picnic, a networking social or something around a special event in your hometown – we’re seeking ways to reach out to UNI alumni and families.
Make Every Event Purple! – volunteer to help staff special events like the Des Moines Arts Festival, Iowa State Fair or special UNI events. It is a great way to see old friends, make new friends and share the word about UNI.
Legislative Advocacy – UNITE (UNI Together for Education) is a grassroots initiative that needs you! Talk with your local legislator, write an e-mail or letter, or actively engage in the process at the state capital.
Career Services – you can work with the Office of Advising and Career Services to assist current UNI students in a number of ways. There is a demand for quality internships for UNI students. We need alumni who are interested in mentoring students who are making career decisions, who are willing to come back to campus and share their experiences with students, and employers who are interested in hiring highly qualified graduates.
UNI Purple Reader (Des Moines Area Only) – Volunteer to read stories to elementary students. You may choose a specific school, or be assigned from a list of schools.
