A recently released jazz CD by Warren Hatfield ,’52, features UNI alums Jim Linahon, ’73, (trumpet and flugelhorn) Jeff Tower, ’75, (trombone) and Jim Coffin, ’52 (drums and percussion). Titled “Smile,” it is a tribute to jazz legend Paul Desmond and features Hatfield on saxophone and oboe along with an orchestra comprised of top Los Angeles recording studio artists conducted by world renowned composer John Cacavas.
The musical selections are classic standards from the Great American Songbook. The CD was recorded and mixed in Linahon’s LMP Studios, located in Claremont, Calif. Hatfield and Linahon were co-producers. |

Connie Hansen ’89 has joined the UNI alumni relations staff as assistant director of alumni relations for young alumni and campus programs.
“Connie brings extensive special event experience to the program, a unique energy and creativity, and has the advantage of a broad UNI network of alumni and friends,” said Mark Jastorff, president of the UNI Alumni Association. “It goes without saying that Connie is truly Purple for Life.”
Hansen has worked on campus since 1989 in admissions and student activities. She has earned national and international distinction for her work with students including the Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) Outstanding Advisor Awards at district and international levels. She has presented at dozens of conferences and seminars involving young alumni. |

Holly Johnson joined the UNI alumni relations staff in October as program assistant for Marketing and Special Projects. She was formerly director of campus life at Lake Superior State University in Michigan.
Holly has more than a decade of professional and student experience in alumni relations, campus and student life, marketing and special events as well as significant higher education administration/management. She has been very active with the Association of Student Advancement Programs and with CASE. She has been a CASE ASAP District 5 Advisor of the Year, Outstanding ASAP & District 5 Student Leader, and was the first recipient of the CASE 5 Student Fellows in Advancement. Holly adds a great deal of flexibility to an already strong and dynamic staff. Her main duties revolve around membership and affinity partnerships.
