In 1996, the University of Northern Iowa Alumni Association created the Student Alumni Association (now know as UNI STAT). The purpose of the organization was to introduce students to the Alumni Association while they were still on campus and to encourage students to utilize local businesses, all while saving money on products and services. Recently, the organization has added two components to the program: philanthrophy and the offical spirit group for Panther Athletics.
In our first year, more than 350 students took advantage of the valuable benefits package we offered. Since then, the program has grown immensely, with more discounts and special events throughout the year.
In the spring of 2002, the Student Alumni Association became STAT, Students Today Alumni Tomorrow. The name change gave the organization a truly unique identity.
Participation in the program continues to grow each year, and our membership now exceeds 3000 students.

How can I be a student and an alumnus at the same time?
STAT members are all students. Alumni are not allowed to join, because STAT is designed specifically for currently enrolled UNI students.
What is the purpose of UNI STAT?
STAT was created by the UNI Alumni Association to offer students the opportunity to save some money and get involved with their Alumni Association while they are still students. It allows students to leave UNI with knowledge of the services their Alumni Association can provide.
Why should I join?
STAT offers you a benefits package filled with valuable discounts. Over 3000 students join STAT every year and use their membership key fobs to take advantage of discounts with area merchants. Members receive a membership package including free gifts and their valuable membership key fob. STAT does not hold meetings, but they host members only events, and participation in events is completely voluntary. We’ll notify you via our Web site and e-mail when a special event or offer is being extended.
Membership in STAT automatically registers you for the Traditions Challenge Program, where you receive a Traditions Challenge book to collect photos of your experience at UNI. Visit the Traditions Challenge website for more information on the program.
What does it cost to join?
The cost for one academic year of membership is $35. Your membership is valid from the first day of classes until May 31st of the following year. We accept cash, checks (payable to UNI AA), or you may charge your dues to your U-Bill.
How do I join?
Join online. Call our office at 273-2355. Stop by our office at 1012 W 23rd Street (across from University Book and Supply). Mail your dues payment to STAT, 1012 W 23rd Street, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0284.
