Teaching in Iowa Incentive Award


The Teaching in Iowa Incentive Fund was established with the UNI Foundation by Rex and Kathy Eno to encourage UNI’s teaching majors to consider Iowa first when making their decision about where to teach following graduation.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must have at least one outstanding student loan following graduation

  • Applicants must have an undergraduate teaching degree from UNI

Application Procedure

  • Complete the application by the appropriate date, based on time of graduation

  • December graduates must apply by April 1 the following year

  • May graduates must apply by September 1 of the same year

  • Provide copies of all invitation letters/letters of intent to teach within an Iowa school district

The quantity and amount of the awards given will vary depending upon funds available and the size of the applicant pool. At minimum, one $500 award will be given to a May graduate and one $500 award will be given to a December graduate. Awards will be renewable for a second year, provided the candidate maintains employment within an Iowa school district.

 

Applications may be evaluated by the Teacher Education faculty who supervise student teachers, as well as a committee of 3-5 members, made up of faculty, staff, students, and/or Alumni Association Board members.

 

The award recipient(s) will be notified within 60 days of the application deadline. The recipient(s) must provide to the Alumni Association a copy of their signed contract with an Iowa school district before payment will be disbursed.
