Purple & Gold Scholarships
These scholarships are offered by the UNI office of Financial Aid.
Scholarships for Out-of-State Students,
including the Legacy Scholarship
Scholarship Program for Out-of-State Students
Out-of-state students may accept
the $2,000 Purple & Gold Scholarship.

A Legacy Scholarship may be awarded in addition to this scholarship
(see below).
Legacy Scholarship for Out-of-State Students
Out of state students whose parent(s), grandparent(s) or sibling(s)
have received a degree from UNI, or are currently enrolled, may be
awarded a $1,000 per year Legacy Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements

Successfully complete a college preparatory curriculum in high school.

Rank in the top one-half of their class.

Take the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). UNI's average ACT composite score is 23

Transfer students must fulfill UNI transfer admission requirements.
Continuation of Award

Maintain full time status, defined as 12 credit hours or more.

Scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years by earning and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or above and continuing to maintain out-of-state residency.
How to Apply

Apply for admission to the University of Northern Iowa.

Upon admission, the student will automatically
be considered for the Purple & Gold Scholarship and will
receive notification of award eligibility.

Included with the scholarship notification will be a legacy information card. Admitted students may then identify their legacy connection and become eligible for the additional $1,000 Legacy Scholarship.
