UNI Foundation Receives Two Large Gifts for the McLeod Center-UNI Dome ConnectorTwo $500,000 gifts to the UNI Foundation will help provide a connection from the new McLeod Center to the UNI-Dome. A gift from the Krause family, founders of Kum & Go, L.C., will help construct the Krause Pavilion, the above-ground connection from the arena to the UNI Dome. “You don’t have to be an alumnus to appreciate what UNI means to the state of Iowa,” says W. A. Krause. “This is a great opportunity to benefit students, faculty, staff and all visitors to the UNI-Dome and the McLeod Center by linking two monumental buildings.” A gift from the family of Dr. Jitu D. Kothari will provide funds to name the Dr. Jitu Kothari Concourse, to be located within the lower level connector between the UNI-Dome and McLeod Center. The Kothari Concourse will house the UNI Athletics Hall of Fame. Dr. Kothari served as the Panther football team’s orthopedic surgeon from 1981 until his death in 2003.
Additional opportunities to contribute to the McLeod Center project still remain. Donations for the center’s UNI Alumni Association Hospitality Suite are being accepted online at http://www.unialum.org/alumnisuite. The McLeod Center is scheduled to open in November 2006. |
