7. The challenge is on!

The UNI Alumni Association has issued a life-saving challenge to their counterparts in the state for November and December. Working in cooperation with The Blood Center of Iowa, UNI alumni are encouraged to join with alumni from Iowa, Iowa State, and Drake to donate blood during the next two months. The school with the highest percentage of alumni donors will earn a plaque and bragging rights.

To schedule an appointment, call 800-287-4903 or schedule online at http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/443/0/

8. Save big, have a voice AND be Purple!

8,000 alumni can’t be wrong!

Your UNI Alumni Association could not offer events, programs and services if not for its members. If you are not yet a dues-member of the UNIAA, think about becoming a part of something special. We are helping shape the future of our University. We are working hard to strengthen the value of your degree and striving to ensure that we spread the word about the Power of Purple.

There are dozens of tangible benefits to being a dues member. The discounts alone will save you more than the investment, but the real value is in joining with thousands of other Panthers in making a difference for UNI.

You’ll notice something different this year. There are three levels at which you can join. Each carries a base of benefits and each level has its own special benefits. Memberships start at $35 annually. There are $50 and $100 levels too. Every membership helps UNI and your Association.

New this year as well, a portion of your membership goes to supporting alumni activities and services in your academic department. Check it out today at http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/21/0/ and click on membership.

9. Evangelize!

Hearing the impact that UNI had on your life can make the difference with legislators, students and families who are making a decision about where to further their education and in helping students make their own career choices. If you are interested in making a difference, UNI needs you. Volunteer for the Alumni and Friends Network and help strengthen our alma mater.

You decide how much time you have to give, and in what ways you want to be involved. Share the Power of Purple! For more information, visit http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/21/0/ and click on programs and services. Here is the Alumni and Friends link as well, http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/444/0/ .

10. Panther Union

More than 40 groups have been established, and more than 600 alumni signed up. Now it is your turn. If you are looking for a professional networking site, or just want to hook up with former classmates and fellow Panthers, check out Panther Union at http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/445/0/

The Ultimate Frisbee Club, residence halls, SAA, and groups by geographic or work location are already up and running. Create your own and you can still hop in with those already established. There are job postings, blogs and more. Best of all, YOU control access to your information and you determine your participation.

Panther Union is sponsored by YOUR Alumni Association as a free service to UNI alumni.

11. Flash your UNI pride!

Let everyone know that you are a Panther! Check out the UNI Affinity Credit Card offered through Bank of America. A portion of every sale goes to the Alumni Association for alumni programs and services at no cost to you. Apply at http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/440/0/

12. Did ya get the plate?

There is way too much black, red and gold in the world. What we need is a splash of purple. Share that Panther Pride with a UNI license plate. $25 from every license goes to the scholarship fund at UNI. Order forms are available at any county treasurer’s office, department of motor vehicles office, or UNI Office of Alumni Relations. A PDF application form is available at http://mail.unialum.org/t/7528/490768/346/0/
