| Provost Search Candidate Forums The candidates for the position of executive vice-president and provost will be on campus for public presentations on these dates: Monday, March 3, Don Nieman, dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Bowling Green State University; Thursday, March 6, Lance Grahn, dean, college of Letters and Science, University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point; and Monday, March 10, Susan Carlson, associate provost faculty advancement and diversity, Iowa State University. The presentations are from 3 to 4 p.m. in Lang Hall Auditorium and will be open to the campus community and public. Each candidate will speak for 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session. Price Lab receives 2008 State School of Character Award Malcolm Price Laboratory School (PLS) is one of two schools in Iowa designated as a 2008 State School of Character by the state's Institute for Character Development and Iowa Department of Education. The recognition is presented to schools that have developed and sustained a comprehensive character-development initiative at the school. Winter Weather Decision Makers Cancellations, late starts and early dismissals have become a standard part of the week for many Iowa schools this winter. As announcements are made on the radio, rolled across the bottom of the television screen and posted to Web sites, parents scramble to make alternative arrangements for their children's day. The decision to cancel is not one administrators take lightly, according to Alan Czarnetzki, director of the University of Northern Iowa's STORM Project and professor of earth science at UNI. Spring blizzard tales! What’s your best or worst memory of a famously wicked Iowa spring blizzard? UNI Relay for Life UNI Colleges Against Cancer's Relay for Life will be April 11-12 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the UNI-Dome. The event starts with a celebration and opening ceremony. The night's highlights include the Survivor's Lap, Luminaria Ceremony and Fight Back Ceremony. Live music, games and other activities make this event something special. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Last year we raised around $85,000; the goal this year is $100,000. Visit http://www.uni.edu/studentorgs/relayforlife/ for information.
