| UNI Cares: A Benefit for Tornado Relief A concert to benefit tornado relief efforts is set for Tuesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Scheduled performers include The Blue Band, Checker and the Bluetones, Jason Rich and the Salsa Band. These artists are donating their talent and time for the benefit. Tickets are $15 per person. Free tickets will be given to anyone who has been impacted by the tornado. Those affected just need to call the ticket office to request tickets. Tickets are available at any UNItix location, by calling 319-273-4TIX or 877-549-SHOW. “UNI and the Gallagher-Bluedorn are proud to support our fellow citizens in this time of challenge,” said Steve Carignan, assistant vice president for educational and sports event center management. “The Gallagher-Bluedorn is responding to this tragedy with what the arts do best, bringing people together and building community.” For more about other relief projects, visit http://www.uni.edu/infosys/tornado/. Dannen is UNI's athletic director Troy Dannen '89 is the new director of athletics at UNI. He will assume his duties in July. "Troy brings a valuable and unique perspective to this position. He also brings a level of energy, enthusiasm, and passion for Panther athletics second to none," said UNI President Ben Allen. "I look forward to working with Troy and to welcoming the Dannen family back to the UNI community." Troy will be formally introduced to the public at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 3 at the McLeod Center Alumni Suite. The introduction ceremony will be streamed live on the Internet in RealPlayer. UNI launches literacy education virtual community "LitEDUNI" is an interactive Web site for UNI literacy-education students, alumni and faculty to improve teaching, instruction and student learning. The site allows members to discuss issues and ideas and share methods and resources. UNI offers summer camps for pre-K through 12 students Summer is right around the corner and children and young adults will be looking for fun and exciting activities. UNI is offering many camps for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Camps include modern languages, music, sports, science and more! Alcohol Task Force UNI has established an alcohol task force to reduce high-risk drinking and the associated negative consequences. This is in light of national research that shows excessive alcohol use by students leads to consequences such as crime, injury, academic failure, academic underperformance, poor health, addiction and damage to reputation. Alumni Credential Files As of July 1, 2008, UNI Career Services office will no longer maintain education alumni credential files, and all files remaining on that date will be eliminated from our records. If you wish to obtain your credential file, contact Career Services by July 1. You can also request the switch to a self-managed file at http://www.uni.edu/careerservices/educators. The discontinuation of the credential service does not affect UNI academic records and documentation of the teacher education program or certification completion program. If you are an educator and have questions about your academic record, or wish a copy of your UNI transcript, contact the Office of the Registrar. | Panthers Sweep Track Titles & make the grade UNI made league history by sweeping the MVC men's and women's titles both indoors and outdoors. It gets better! The Panther track and field program placed 24 student-athletes on the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Track and Field Scholar-Athlete Team, the most of any league institution. Panther shortstop honored Brandon Douglas has been named to the Louisville Slugger All-America second team by Collegiate Baseball. He becomes the fifth Panther to earn All-America honors and the first since 2003.
