Board of Directors revise by-laws
The UNI Alumni Association Board of Directors approved revisions to their operating code in order to better meet the needs of the Association. The major change eliminates representation to the Board dictated by decade of graduation. The new provision allows for the Board and alumni staff to ensure fair representation subject to on-going review. The by-laws are posted at http://unialum.org/aboutus/aboutus.shtml.

Panther success in the classroom
Student-athletes at the University of Northern Iowa posted a 3.0 grade point average for the spring semester. In addition, the 431 student-athletes competing at UNI hold a cumulative GPA of 2.99.
"I am extremely proud of our student-athletes for their performance in the classroom this spring," Hartzell said. "These grades typify the excellence we expect in the classroom, in social settings and in athletic competition. I also am very proud of our coaches who do such a great job in making certain that academics are the top priority for our student-athletes. We enjoy winning games, but our credibility is directly tied to academic success. As long as I am here, that will always be the top priority at UNI."
This past semester, 219 UNI student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or better, and 198 student-athletes hold cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Eleven of UNI's 18 teams recorded a spring GPA of 3.0 or better, and all of UNI's teams have a team GPA of at least 2.70.
Last month, three of UNI's women's teams - volleyball, tennis and indoor track and field - received public recognition from the NCAA for their Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. Each of those squads were all honored for having posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads nationwide in their respective sports.
