3. Order 2005 NCAA Football Championship Memorabilia

The What a Ride! DVD is an action-packed one-hour DVD with game highlights from the best-ever Panther football season. 4. University of Northern Iowa Today Magazine Now Available Online

Alumni and friends can now access the University of Northern Iowa Today at www.unialum.org/unitoday. Select stories include a “UNI Today Online Extra,” with additional content, photos, and updates to stories published in the regular magazine.

5. UNI Basketball Earns First-Ever National Ranking

The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team secured the program's first-ever national ranking on January 30th by entering both the coaches and media polls.

The Panthers are ranked No. 24 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and No. 25 in the Associated Press poll. For more information on UNI Athletics, visit www.unipanthers.com.

6. Now Accepting Orders for Official Ring Program

In 2005, the UNI Alumni Association introduce the Official Class Ring Program. A committee of students and alumni spent more than two years creating a class ring that accurately represents the University of Northern Iowa. The ring is recognized by Northern Iowa Student Government and University President Robert Koob as the official ring of the University. The ring is available exclusively to alumni and students who have met minimum criteria to wear the ring. Ring recipients are invited to accept their rings from President Koob via a ceremony in April. 7. Alumni Association Scholarship Applications Now Available

Applications are being accepted through February 15th for the Alumni Association Scholarships, which will be awarded for the Fall 2006 academic semester. Two will be awarded to undergraduate students of senior standing, including one to the child of an alumnus. A third scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student who received a BA from UNI. 8. School of Music Plans Reunion

School of Music graduates are encouraged to mark their calendars for a reunion on September 28 - 29, 2006. Alumni will enjoy a reception and dinner with current and emeritus faculty Friday evening. Saturday will include time for reminiscing and a campus tour. The reunion culminates with the 25th anniversary of the scholarship gala on Saturday evening. More information will be mailed to School of Music alumni in the coming months.

9. UNI Lifelong University Offers Non-Credit Courses

UNI Lifelong University was established to offer alumni and friends the opportunity to take non-credit classes on campus. The program, geared toward the lifelong learner, offers courses taught by retired and current UNI faculty and staff. Courses are taught on campus on weekdays, and formats vary to include four-week, half-day workshops and lunch-n-learn programs. For winter and spring class information, visit www.uni.edu/llu.

10. UNITE Seeks Members to Contact Legislators

UNITE (UNI Together for Education) is a grassroots legislative organization of alumni and friends who share a common commitment to higher education in Iowa. UNITE recruits, educates, adn mobilizes members to delivery the university's key concerns and messages to legislators. 11. Alumni and Friends Invited to UNI Relay for Life

In recent years, a group of UNI students has organized one of the largest and most successful collegiate Relays for Life in the nation. In 2005, 1400 students raised more than $73,000 through this American Cancer Society fundraiser. On March 31, UNI students will host their fourth Relay for Life. The group anticipates more than 2,000 participants will join in their efforts. Alumni and friends are encouraged to join students in their effort to reach a $100,000 fundraising goal. 12. UNI Foundation and Class of '56 Share Golden Reunion Challenge

The Class of ’56 has issued the Golden Reunion Challenge to its classmates. Their goal is to endow the scholarship that was created at their 40th Reunion and to raise $25,000 to restore the NE and SE campus entrances. Visit www.uni-foundation.org for more information.

13. UNI Alumnus Headed for Super Bowl

UNI College of Business graudate Ryan Hannam '02 will not be relaxing on the sofa during Super Bowl XL on February 5. He has to work that day. Hannam plays tight end as number 83 for the Seattle Seahawks. Hannam was drafted by the Seahawks in 2002. This season, he has recorded 13 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown.
