UNI hosted Saudi Prince and Ambassador to the United States

His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States of America visited campus on November 30. The historic visit was coordinated by UNI Saudi students. Learn more at http://www.uni.edu/saudi

UNI Women's Rugby whips Ohio State: qualifies for nationals

The UNI Women's Rugby team won the Division I Midwest Title by whipping national power Ohio State 23-13 in early November. The team advances to the national tournament in Florida this April. We’ll keep you posted about when and where.

TC and Dance Team are on their way to FLA!

The University of Northern Spirit Squad will be well represented this January as the dance team and T.C. the mascot make return appearances at the College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The UNI Dance Team will make its seventh appearance at the national event as they qualified sixth overall in Division I of the Universal Dance Association contest.  In 2006, the squad advanced to the finals and finished with a 10th place showing. The dance competition will start on Saturday, January 13 with the final round on Sunday, January 15.  The finals will be broadcast on ESPN at a later date.

The Cat, T.C., will make his first trip back to the UCA (Universal Cheer Association) National Mascot competition this winter since 2004.  The mascot qualified eighth overall of the 37 entries for this year's event.  T.C. is expected to compete on Friday, January 12.

Hot Dam!

UNI has long been renowned for providing great volunteers for civic events and here’s another chance to wave the Purple Banner in Des Moines. This year’s Dam to Dam run to benefit families in need  is Saturday, June 2. If you are interested in helping, contact Connie at constance.hansen@uni.edu. Race sponsors need help at the finish line with the 20k & 5k finishers chutes. Volunteers show up bright and early on Sat. (6:45 a.m.) and your official duties end around 11:30 a.m.  There is a great volunteer party afterwards, btw.  When you call, make sure you let us know your tee shirt size!
