1. 7th Annual Regents Universities Iowa Job Fair
Each year, the UNI Alumni Association partners with the Alumni Associations at Iowa State and the University of Iowa to sponsor the Regents Universities Iowa Job Fair. Dozens of Iowa businesses and organizations participate in the event, which drew approximately 1000 alumni and students last year. It is a great opportunity to meet with a wide range of employers about internships or full time employment opportunities. The job fair will take place at the Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines on Wednesday, January 8th from 10 am - 3 pm. Employers must register in advance but no registration is required for job fair attendees. For more information or to see an updated list of employers, visit http://www.regentsjobfair.org.

6. Goal Raised for Students First Campaign
The October 25-26th National Students First Campaign Kickoff was a huge success, with alumni and friends from around the country returning home to UNI to celebrate. Weekend events included campus tours, a Jazz Band One concert, and receptions, culminating with a tailgate party before the Panther football game. The weekend's highlight was the announcement that the UNI Foundation has raised the fundraising goal from $75 million to $100 million. In other campaign-related news, architects for the McLeodUSA Center/Human Performance Center are finishing preliminary plans for the complex, and these plans will be taken to the Board of Regents for approval early in 2003. For more information about the Students First Campaign, please visit http://www.uni-foundation.org or call 1-800-782-9522.
7. Legislative Update
The Iowa State Legislative Session will convene January 13, 2003. Recent reductions in state funds by the legislature resulted in a tuition and fees increase of nearly 20% for the academic year 2003-2004 at UNI. The University's grassroots organization UNITE, UNI Together for Education, needs the help of UNI alumni to help combat further decreases in state funds. UNITE is an organization of alumni and friends who share a commitment to higher education in Iowa, specifically to UNI and the Regents institutions. Members receive newsletters and mailings about legislative issues affecting higher education and they assist in communicating to legislators the importance of higher education in Iowa. For more information or to become a volunteer member, please visit http://www.uni.edu/govrel/unite.
8. New Panther Marching Band CD Now Available
The Panther Marching Band has released its third annual CD, "The Legacy Continues
" This new CD contains the show music from the 2001 marching season, including Disco Inferno, Jesus Christ Superstar, Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In, God Bless the USA and more. Of course, the recording includes our own UNI Fight Song and Alma Mater. All Panther Marching Band CD's are available through the UNI School of Music and University Book and Supply. For more information or to place an order, please call Carolina Wilson at 319-273-2025 or send an email to pantherband@uni.edu.
9. UNI Dome Unveils New Videoboard
If you've attended a home football game lately, you couldn't have missed the brand new addition to the UNI Dome - a 24' x 37' videoboard. The board is located in the southeast corner of the Dome and provides live action video, instant replay and interactive features for all home football and men's basketball games. The University was able to obtain the board at a significant discount after it was repossessed from another facility. Not only will it enhance the game atmosphere at Panther athletic events, it will also help generate new revenue through advertising packages. So next time you're at a home game, be careful - you just might be caught on the Fan Cam!
10. Volleyball Team Earns #4 Seed in NCAA Tournament
UNI's Women's Volleyball team captured their 5th consecutive Missouri Valley Conference tournament title and received an automatic bid to the 2002 NCAA Tournament. The Panthers finished the regular season with a record of 32-2 after defeating No. 3 Florida, ending Florida's 26 match winning streak. UNI earned the #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will host the first round of regional play on December 6th and 7th. Panther fans can purchase their tickets by calling 319-273-DOME.
