Annual Panther Fan Fest is August 18
The third annual Panther Fan Fest will be held Friday, August 18 from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. in the UNI-Dome. Panther fans and families are invited to join the UNI Panther Athletic teams in kicking off the 2006-07 year. The event includes McLeod Center tours, inflatables and games, autographs, food vendors, and a weclome from coaches and President Benjamin Allen. Panther Sports Talk To Air Weekly

Beginning August 12, Panther fans can look forward to seeing updates on UNI athletics via local and regional television. Panther Sports Talk will air on KWKB (Eastern Iowa's WB), KPWB (Central Iowa's WB), Cedar Falls Utilities cable, and Cedar Falls Community Television. Fall Semester Begins August 21

The start of the fall semester is just a few weeks away. New and returning students can look forward to an entire week of welcome events, including the Alumni Association-sponsored Panther Bash on August 20. Campanile 80th Birthday Celebration Planned
2006 marks the 80th birthday of UNI's much-beloved Campanile. An ice cream social is planned for September 19 to celebrate. Listen to carillonneur Karel Keldermans and enjoy a sundae! The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. on the Campanile plaza. For more information, visit http://www.uni-foundation.org

Lifelong University Classes Filling Quickly

Lifelong University, UNI's program created for the lifelong learner, offers non-credit courses taught by retired and current UNI faculty and staff. The courses will be taught on campus on weekdays. Fall 2006 courses are filling quickly, so alumni and friends are encouraged to register soon. For more information, visit http://www.uni.edu/llu

Panthers in the Park Visits Des Moines
The Alumni Association is hosting a send-off celebration for incoming freshmen and returning sophomore students from the Des Moines area. Alumni, friends, parents, and UNI students in the Des Moines area are invited to Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge on August 10. This free event includes a barbeque, giveaways, and fun! Students are encouraged to meet up with their peers, while parents do the same. Pre-registration is required, but there is no charge to attend. http://www.unialum.org/events.shtml

Meet President Allen at the Drake Football Tailgate!
Panther fans will gather in Des Moines at Drake University on August 31 to cheer on the Panthers as they take on the Bulldogs. Fans will gather for a pre-game tailgate at 5 p.m. Kids will enjoy free Panther tattoos and a vist from TC. Bring the whole family for food and fun, and meet special guests President Benjamin Allen and his wife Pat. To register online, visit http://www.unialum.org/events.shtml

Two Football Reunions Planned
Alumni of the 1976 football program will gather at the UNI-Dome on September 9 for the first home game of the season. They will celebrate 30 years of Panther football in the UNI-Dome! Football alumni from 1970-75 will reunite during homecoming weekend, October 6-7 to celebrate and reminisce about their days as Panthers. Homecoming 2006 is October 2-7
This year's homecoming festivities include a picnic, pep rally, fireworks, several reunions, and a family-friendly alumni tailgate event prior to the football game on October 7. For a complete schedule of events, visit http://www.uni.edu/homecoming/

Athletic Hall of Fame Luncheon is October 7
When you return to campus for Homecoming this fall, make plans to attend the annual Athletic Hall of Fame Luncheon on Saturday, October 7. Inductees include Kothari Meritorious Service Award winner William Smith '73, football/track standout Ron Sturch '58, volleyball great Maryellen McCann Durow '88, football star Mike Smith '87, and former men's basketball coach James Berry '71. Thank You Des Moines Arts Festival Volunteers!
More than 100 volunteers turned out to represent UNI at the Des Moines Arts Festival in June. Volunteers sold ice cream from Blue Bunny locations throughout the festival. In return, the festival organizers made a donation of more than $1300 to the Alumni Association scholarship fund. Thank you for representing UNI and supporting our efforts in Des Moines! Thank You RAGBRAI Hosts!
Special thanks to Doug and Nicki Rudolph Olsen for hosting the UNI tent on RAGBRAI in Audubon, Iowa. Many Panther fans stopped by for refreshments and to declare their Panther pride. We look forward to a repeat stop on RAGBRAI in 2007. See you on the route next year!
