Chuck Grassley and his wife, Barbara, which will endow a professorship in political science. The Grassleys are both UNI alumni. Sen. Volunteer today! Runner to face the unknown during Relay for Life of UNI Dave Martin has never had cancer, and he doesn't pretend to know what hearing "you have cancer" would be like. However, he knows cancer does not discriminate. It affects the old, the young, all colors and creeds. He knows friends and family who have faced the disease. He understands people he knows will hear those words some day. That is why Martin is willing to walk the walk -- or more accurately, run the run -- during the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of the University of Northern Iowa to inspire others to join in the fight against cancer. During the Relay for Life of UNI, Martin, a veteran of 43 marathons, will attempt to run 50 miles -- 250 laps around the UNI-Dome floor. Nobel Peace Prize nominee to lecture at UNI on criminal justice M. Cherif Bassiouni, Distinguished Research Professor of Law at DePaul University and a nominee for a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the field of international criminal justice and for his contribution to the creation of the International Criminal Court, will speak at noon, Wednesday, April 2, on the University of Northern Iowa campus. UNI Biology Botanical Center Please join us as we celebrate the completion of renovations to the UNI Biology Botanical Center. This year marks the 70^th anniversary of he first greenhouse at UNI. The primary role of the greenhouse has been to acquire and maintain a diverse and large plant collection (currently about 800 species) for use in Biology classes. However, in recent years the greenhouse has also provided care for animals used in class, landscape plants for the UNI grounds, given public courses for students of all ages, and provided greenhouse tours and presentations to groups throughout Northeast Iowa. The current renovations consist of new mechanicals and the addition of benches throughout the nearly 7000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space, a new research classroom as well as research greenhouse, and a new Head House consisting of a potting area and supporting workspace for students and staff.
