4. UNI Presidential Candidates to Visit CampusThe Board of Regents, State of Iowa announced Benjamin J. Allen, Iowa State University, John W. Folkins, Bowling Green State University, and Stephen Lehmkuhle, University of Missouri system, as finalists for the position of University of Northern Iowa President. 5. Men's Basketball Announces Ben Jacobson as Next Head CoachBen Jacobson is the 21st head men's basketball coach in UNI history. Jacobson, who served as an assistant coach under Greg McDermott, has signed a five-year contract with the Panthers. McDermott accepted the head coaching position at Iowa State University. The Athletic Club has been renamed the Panther Scholarship Club. The purpose of the Club is to raise money to assist the athletic department in providing scholarship support for student athletes. Each contribution helps a young person realize a dream of earning a quality education while enjoying the thrill of competing athletically on a national level. 8. Golden Reunion and 50 Year Club Events Set for May 2006The Alumni Association will host members of the classes of 1946 through 1956 for three days of events. Classmates will gather May 4-6 on campus at UNI for seminars, special events, and reminiscing. 9. Women's Golf Reunion Scheduled Alumnae of the women’s golf program are reminded to save the dates of October 6-7 for the women’s golf reunion. The group will gather to celebrate more than 30 years of UNI golf. Hosted by Jeannette Marsh, the reunion events will include a 4-person best shot on October 7. Additional information will be mailed this summer and posted online.

10. Volunteers Needed for Des Moines-area EventsThe UNI Alumni Association is recruiting volunteers to represent UNI in Des Moines at the Arts Festival in June and Iowa State Fair in August. Alumni volunteers are needed to help sell ice cream at the Des Moines Arts Festival, June 23-25, and to staff the University’s information booth at the Iowa State Fair, August 10-20. Volunteers for each event will receive a complimentary t-shirt and free admission, when necessary. A portion of the profits from the ice cream sales at the Arts Festival will be donated to the Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Fund. 11. Arts in April Arrives at UNIAs part of its annual Arts in April celebration, the University of Northern Iowa has commissioned local artist John Heidersbach to create the art for this year's promotional materials. This is the fifth year Heidersbach has provided art for Arts in April. Arts in April began in 2001 and exists to highlight the many arts and cultural pursuits at UNI. Panther Sculpture Artist WantedThe University of Northern Iowa Art and Architecture Committee is currently searching to commission a 3-D “Panther” sculpture for the exterior entrance area of the McLeod Center currently under construction. 13. Human Performance Center DownsizedThe rising cost of construction has forced UNI to redesign its plans for the Human Performance Center.
