
The University of Northern Iowa Connecting Alumni to Students (CATS) is the official student volunteer group of the UNI Alumni Association. These members represent dedicated and passionate students whose primary goal is to be the official tradition keepers of the University of Northern Iowa. CATS represent the University of Northern Iowa student body to alumni and friends. CATS create and promote the lasting connections between past, present and future Panthers.

Name: Connie Hansen Graduation Year: 1989 Major/Minor: Elementary Education Hometown: Cedar Falls, IA Other Campus/Community Involvement: I have worked in the UNI Admissions Office, Advisor for Student Alumni Ambassadors and the Northern Iowa Stars Programs Why is CATS such a great organization? : I love advising the UNI CATS for several reasons. Their enthusiasm to enhance relationships between the alumni and the current student body is amazing. This group of students also has a passion for service to the university and the community we live in. It has been a blast watching them grow through the organization and expand their creativity in the event and programming areas. Each member will definitely be an outstanding alum of UNI.

I hear your 20's are supposed to be confusing 10 years from now, I like to think that I will be at a place in life that I love. Where that place is, I don't know yet. Why is CATS such a great organization?:CATS allows students to network, explore UNI and have positive experiences. A membership in CATS is something I will always look back on fondly. I think that the opportunities I have had here are some of which I would have had no other place.

I will be an avid donator to the Greek system and the Theta Zeta Pike Chapter. Hopefully I will be married and have a couple kids and will probably live in a small town outside of a city. Why is CATS such a great organization? : CATS helps to build networking skills, and it puts you in the position you will be in, in less than 5 years having to donate back to the University.

Why is CATS such a great organization? : CATS has been a great organization for me to get involved with because there is so much networking to be done. The campus (and workplace) are a student's world in college, and in CATS we go beyond that and expand our contacts to the Cedar Valley, the state of Iowa and across the U.S. Public Relations is all about the connections you make with people, for an organization; which is basically what CATS does for both UNI and the UNI Alumni Association.

I also hope to have a stable family and our own home. Being happy and having both feet on the ground is the most important thing. Why is CATS such a great organization? : CATS is such a great organization because we get to meet, work, and network with great alumni who have a lot of pride for UNI. It is an organization that also helps us practice our leadership and communication skills which will be important for all of us after college. Why is CATS such a great organization? : Through my involvement in CATS, I have met a lot of great people, both on campus, and within the community. I have also learned many skills relating to leadership, organization, networking, & communication that I am not only able to utilize now, but I know will be beneficial when I am done with school. One of the best things about this organization, is that the students involved are empowered to make positive change through their involvement with the current university community (students/faculty/staff), and its surrounding communities (local/surrounding alumni). This has been one of my best experiences while I've been in college, and makes me proud to be a Panther!

We try to reach out and share our love of UNI with the other students and alumni. We also make connections between the students of the past and students of the present and help keep UNI's traditions strong.

I desire to live in the Big Apple where I will attempt to make it on the biggest stage of them all: Broadway. If the said career option does not pan out I would utilize my knowledge of the Spanish language as a safety net. Why is CATS such a great organization? : CATS is such an uberly amazing organization because its mission is utterly humble. Many public universities do not attempt to connect current students with its alumni, but UNI has made this effort and it is obvious that the said effort is proving beneficial and also the diversity within the organization is utterly supreme!
